And now for the revoltingly narcissistic part of any homepage where I have to describe myself.
I've been working on computers and technology for about as long as I could read at an adult level. I taught myself programming at age 13. I got involved with Linux and the open source community as a freshman in college.
I studied at an unheard of college in a legendarily provincial city best known for producing tractors. After college, I started working as a web developer at a nearby large e-commerce company. Soon after, I jumped into the world of technology startups. I have worked as a developer (or programmer, software engineer, whatever vague term you prefer) across several companies with many different technologies and products. I discovered that I enjoy infosec / cyber-security the most. And so that is the ends to which I am now devoting my professional pursuits.
That describes me as far as the "cocktail party" conversation topics are concerned. Dare I venture beyond the basics?
I have always loved books and words. As a child I was prone to day-dreaming and "big thinking" as my mother put it. I have always enjoyed problem-solving and understanding how things work. Very often this has gotten me into trouble because there are many interested parties out there in the world that would very much prefer that we do not understand how things work.
